What an amazing and unexpected joy it has been to discover this new and challenging activity, two years ago.  Rowing on the river quickly became my favorite activity, and everything about it -- the athleticism, the complexity, the interface with nature, and of course the people I get to enjoy at the boathouse -- enhances my life.  I spent my 40+ pre-rowing years as a lawyer in San Francisco, where I litigated what are known as complex commercial cases - trade secrets, class actions, intellectual property, and others.  It was a rewarding career but I was ready to move on. In the past year, I moved into an at large position on the board that had been vacated by a departing rower. I have loved serving on the board and would like to continue to do so. Being on the board has allowed me to give back a little to an organization that has given so much to me.
