Nick Honey

President

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as NBRC president for the last 3 years. I am putting my name forward for a 4th year because I really enjoy working with this Board and want to continue building our club and supporting rowers of all age groups so that they can enjoy the same experiences that I have had.  Before becoming president, I previously served on the Board as an At Large member for 2 years and I have been on the Finance Committee for the last 4 years as well as leading the Fundraising Committee since 2023. I love our rowing community and the friendliness that is a hallmark of NBRC. The club is at its best when we experience the teamwork and mutual support of rowing together, completing projects together or just enjoying each other's company. To me the highlight every year is the Petaluma River Marathon, and 2025 was no exception - we received so much positive feedback from the participants who noted the friendliness, organization and community of the club.

Without any previous rowing experience I was inspired to start rowing here in 2012 because our son was benefiting so much from the joy of being on the river and being part of the Juniors team.  It felt so good to actually be on the Petaluma river after only driving past it for many years. Since I retired as the Director of the Sonoma County Child Welfare agency in summer 2022, I have had more time and space to devote to the sport and improving my rowing skills as well as volunteering to keep the club organized and moving forward. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to give back to a club that has given me so much.
