I discovered the sport of rowing between my freshman and sophomore years of high school through a Learn-to-Row summer program at the Oakland Strokes—and I’ve been hooked ever since. By senior year, my team won the 8+ event at Southwest Regionals, and my passion for the sport only grew from there. I was recruited to row as a lightweight at Yale, where my JV boat won Sprints my senior year, setting a course record in the event that still stands. Along the way, I was fortunate to row at Henley twice—unforgettable experiences that deepened my love for the sport.

After a twenty-year break to become an architect and start a family, I found my way back to rowing through my son. When he, who loves just being on the water, expressed interest in joining NBRC as a 7th grader, I reconnected with the sport. Seeing him become part of such a supportive and inclusive club, along with the encouragement of other welcoming members, I was inspired to start rowing again as an NBRC Master.

Rowing has given me so much, from lifelong friendships to invaluable lessons in discipline and teamwork. I’m excited about the opportunity to give back by joining NBRC’s board. I’d love to help grow NBRC’s membership and support the club’s mission—whether by mentoring young rowers, helping with club operations, or working on new ideas to strengthen the community.

I’m passionate about creating a space where rowers of all levels feel inspired, supported, and part of something bigger. Joining NBRC’s board would be a meaningful way to stay connected to the sport I love while helping others discover it too.
